Right To Information (RTI)Act

Government of India (GOI) - that means boffins ( bureaucrats, if you will) and buffoons - is planning to perform a vasectomy ( rendering it impotent) or tubectomy ( making it infertile) on the RTI act . They will exempt File Notings from the purview of the said act. This act has been most productive. It produced results, moved files that had been tied up in red tapes, provided relief to teeming millions and struck at the heart of corruption. So the wise men of India , instead of attempting to put a stop on the Population Explosion are attempting to stifle this act at birth. This is nothing short of foeticide.

We the people of India will as usual and as impotently blog, write letters to the editor and retire to our life in comfort and add to the growth of India ( I mean in terms of quantity, not quality )

And that is another day in the life of Citizen of India!!!

Here's Monsoon

Here in the western corner of the nation,
Close to the visible line that divides
Those finding themselves on opposite sides,
bound however with ties of similar notion;,
Clouds burst forth with unceasing showers
As if to cool the weltering Heat of hate
that rises like a mighty river in spate.
Fed on by the fire spewed by the powers.
Guided by the signs of the pleasing season,
Shouldn't we listen to innermost reason?
Shouldn't we hands of friendship extend
and with our hands a healing touch lend ?
But then the horrors of Mumbai flash past
And Oh, the future will only be like the past

Prince 's Ransom

All the India-based 24 hour TV channels had one and one thing only to show all the weekend. The life and death struggle of a 6 year old boy who fell into a 60 foot pit. The Pm. CM, army. mumbai fire brigade all got into the act. The boy was rescued. Whereas abhimanyu of mahabharat was ambushed by several enemies and lost his life, this modern day Prince got out alive. Now the gifts are pouring, 2 lacs from Haryana, 2lacs from the centre, 5 lacs from Z
TV, with many more lacs to come.

In 2000 , In Lajpatnagar , New Delhi during monsoon, I saw a young girl disappear into a water logged pit right in front of my eyes. We hear every now and then of people being electrocuted by carelessly left high tension wires, and so on.

What about breadwinners blown up by the mumbai serial bombimgs with their families left to fend for themselves? Cargil widows, J&K widows languishing.

Farmers in Vidharba and Andhra committing suicides unable to pay off thousands borrowed from moneylenders.

We love drama and our priorities are lopsided. But then, we are Indians , aren't we?
